CRAZY BUT TRUE TRAVEL
TRIVIA – (honest!) |
You are
breaking the law if you: |
1. Sleep with
chickens in Clawson City, Michigan.
2. Walk your elephant without a leash in Wisconsin.
3. Tie your crocodile to a fire hydrant in Michigan.
|
Can You Spell That? |
There are many long place names
in the world. Here is one of the longest for a hill in New Zealand.
TAUMATAWHAKATANGIHANGAKOAUAUOTAMATEATURIPUKAKAPIKIMAUNGAHORONUKUPOKAIWHENUAKITANATAHU
Please don’t ask to go there!! This is the Maori name that was in general
use but has now been abbreviated to Taumata (thank goodness). The name means:
summit of the hill, where Tamatea who is know as the land eater, slid down,
climbed up and swallowed mountains, played on his nose flute to his loved one. |

HELPFUL TRAVEL HINTS |
Pack dryer
sheets in your suitcase. Your clothes will smell great when
you unpack and have dryer sheets already with you for doing laundry.
Dryer sheets can also be rubbed on your body as a good bug repellent!!
Instead of folding
your clothes, roll them. Rolled clothes take up less space and
practically iron themselves while you travel. Less wrinkles and more
space!

TIME TRAVELERS CARES |
Time Travelers
is dedicated to taking care of our planet and the creatures on it.
From time to time we will bring to your attention a situation that
could use your support. One of the more appalling and growing practices
is the cat and dog fur trade. Please – if you love your pet - don’t
buy fur. |
SUMMER CAR TRAVEL AND YOUR PET
Please NEVER leave your pet in a parked car. On a mild 73 F day,
the temperature inside a car can reach 120 F in 30 minutes. On a
90 F day the interior can reach 160 F in minutes. Opening your car
window an inch isn’t enough. Temperatures
inside a car still soar. During the “dog days” of summer
the temperature inside a parked car can climb to well above 100 F
degrees in a matter of minutes. The best thing to do is leave your
pet at home.
Simon Cowell is on a mission to help HOT DOGS in cars and stop the
dog and cat fur trade. To watch the HOT DOGS behind the scenes video
interview with Simon see: http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=simon_cowell_broll_us

VACATION IDEAS |
Claire’s
Pick -Brunston Castle, Scotland |
For an unforgettable
vacation experience visit Scotland. Set in 25 acres of landscaped
grounds in the Girvan Valley, just 5 miles from Ayrshires picturesque
coast, Brunston Castle makes the perfect touring centre.
An easy
drive to Edinburgh (2 hr drive) or Glasgow (1 hr drive) to see
the sights. Our family (which includes 3 teenagers) had a fabulous
holiday in Scotland. We explored castles, Robbie Burn’s
cottage, and of course saw Nessie in Loch Ness. Our Scotland photos
will be in the upcoming Photo Album!
We still have space available
for your summer vacation at Brunston. For more information on Brunston
Castle visit our RESORT

Mountain National Park. The resort is atop a mountain overlooking
the Smokeys, the second-most visited national park in the U.S. Biking
or hiking is the perfect way to become acquainted with the area's
natural beauty.
If you're looking for adventure, whitewater rafting
on the Pigeon River will supply thrills as you barrel along the
rushing waters.
Put on a headlamp and explore the caves on a spelunking
adventure. When winter arrives, you can enjoy downhill skiing.
